Leigh Bank operates on a person centred approach. Our model is designed to explore the whole journey from active substance misuse to pre-contemplation/contemplation/detox and recovery. Our programme is based on a variety of Psychosocial interventions which include mood management/recovery capital and mindfulness. All of these are geared towards helping each individual to develop their own recovery and social capital.
Leigh Bank is a 16 bed service located in the leafy suburban area of Werneth Oldham. Our premises is a short distance from Oldham Town Centre which offers excellent facilities and great transport links to Manchester City Centre with quick and easy access to many local vibrant recovery communities. Oldham City Centre is 2 miles and Manchester City Centre is 5 miles away from the service.
Leigh Bank offers a high standard of accommodation which is centred around the 5 CQC key performance indicators which are safe/effective/caring/well led and responsive to peoples needs needs. Our staff team pride ourselves on the standard of support and care we offer based on the CQC 7 principles of care which include choice/dignity/equality/rights/ independence/partnership/privacy/respect/safety/inclusion and confidentiality. is furnished and decorated to high standards and offers a comfortable/relaxed and quiet environment to support you in during the early days of your recovery.
What we do:
Our programme centres around a variety of psycho-social interventions which includes our structured group work programme/1-2-1 key work and 1 to 1 counselling sessions.
Group material includes sessions on Mood Management/Recovery Skills and Mindfulness. The structure is designed to meet each component of recovery for each individual.
Our time table consists of 2 groups per day Monday to Friday and also includes 1 to 1 time for key work sessions and counselling sessions. All of the sessions run side by side and all form part of your complete rehab journey.
Therapists offer counselling support around a variety of needs depending on the choice and preference of each individual. Our therapists are skilled in CBT/person centred and Psychotherapy.
Our programme also has a focus on education, training & employment (ETE) and building social capital into your recovery. The aim of this is to assist you to think about next steps for when you move on from rehab and our aim is to help you to develop the skills you will need for your future when you return home.

with you and to support you during your time in rehab for a short time afterward your
placement.

help you to focus what is important to you and on the goals that you want to reach.

and talents and the resources you possess to support you with your recovery
Inspiring independence and community engagement: Our rehabs are a safe
environment where you can practice independent living, free of substance
Leigh Bank offers support to those family members who are involved with their loved ones journey through rehab. We invite the family member to be involved as much as possible to their loved one during their rehab placement and we are happy to accommodate joint family interventions and/or offer telephone support. We also offer counselling sessions to family members where appropriate/required
We are also happy to offer general family advice and guidance where appropriate/relevant, subject to the client’s agreement. This is will be built into the individual recovery plan.
Leigh Bank is happy to welcome children to visit their loved ones whilst at the service with the express permission of all involved with the child/children. There are several parks and family focussed facilities in the local area. However, whilst visits and outside activities are encouraged, Leigh Bank does not offer any specific activities or facilities for children.
Leigh Bank offers on-going counselling sessions for 3 to 6 weeks (depending on what is agreed with your therapist) upon successful completion. Leigh Bank offers on-going telephone support for 6 weeks upon successful completion. Leigh Bank works closely with recovery communities, including mutual aid and community treatment providers. Part of your move on planning will include making contact with as many of these contacts as possible to organise a robust and safe transfer back to your local recovery community. Leigh Bank offers support with harm reduction and relapse prevention as part of our group work. As such, you will already have been exposed to harm minimisation techniques and coping mechanisms in group.
If you leave unplanned, we will offer you relevant advice, guidance and support around harm reduction/harm minimisation and risk. If you are an IV Opiate user, we will have issued you with Naloxone upon admission. We will contact relevant professionals to inform them of your unplanned discharge. We will attempt to maintain contact with you for as long as is possible after unplanned discharge to ensure you are safe and that you engage with appropriate services.
Leigh Bank offers six weeks after care support upon successful completion. This can be over the phone or face to face depending on the needs of the individual and the location you are returning to.

Leigh Bank offers the opportunity to engage with our National Turning Point Peer Mentor programme. This will open doors for you to become a Peer Mentor in other Turning Point services either in your local area or at Leigh Bank.

Leigh Bank offers support for individuals with various Mental Health conditions, either self reported or diagnosed. Where individuals are engaged with CMHT, we expect this support to continue whilst the client is in Leigh Bank or for the team to transfer the case internally to Oldham CMHT.
We are happy to work in a multi disciplinary way with all professionals involved and we welcome and encourage transparency, partnership work and close working agreement arrangements.
Wherever an individual presents with new Mental Health issues that were previously unknown/unrecognised to the individual or any professionals involved, we will make a referral to our local services, either Mind or CMHT in Oldham.
* Severe and enduring mental health issues to such an extent that it will prevent our team from being able to fully engage the individual in the therapeutic process.
* Unable to demonstrate sufficient level of mental capacity.
* History of extreme violence, towards general public or professionals.
* History of arson.
* Schedule 1 offenders.
* Have mobility issues which may prevent acceptable standards of self-care/personal hygiene/engagement with the programme/rehab environment.
We have our own Turning Point Detox programme which runs out of our Smithfield project in Manchester. This is fully staffed with a team professional medical and support workers on site 24hours. Smithfield is situated 5 miles away from Leigh Bank.

Some referral areas pay a percentage of the over all weekly fee. The client has to pay a financial contribution towards the cost. Your worker/referrer will be able to inform you if payment is made in full or whether you may be expected to pay a contribution.
Assessments are completed over the phone or face to face, depending on where you live and how far you are away from Leigh Bank.
Assessments usually take 1 hour and consist of a sequence of questions about your social history/substance misuse history/mental and general physical health/previous detox-rehab experiences.
Once your assessment has been completed, the team will discuss the following morning (or on a Monday if your assessment was completed on a Friday) and a decision will be made about your suitability. You will be contacted as soon as the decision is
