Therapeutic community

Our programme has been developed based on the principles of a Therapeutic Community, whilst retaining many of the aspects of the Recovery Model of treatment delivery. Alongside the structured group programme, we also offer a wide range of activities with both therapeutic and skills based training in our therapeutic groups and workshops, which will allow people to take evidence of recognised training skills with them into the work place. There is also a choice of optional evening and weekend groups and activities. We have reviewed the traditional 12 weeks or 24 week blocks of treatment and can now offer bespoke client centred programmes of between 6 and 24 weeks, dependant on the individual needs of the client. Community residents move to senior peer status and gain responsibilities as they progress through treatment, in addition to being actively involved in much of the decision making in the day to day running of the community. Aspects of the programme will be mixed, with men and women in the same group. Our optional evening and weekend activities and clubs will also be open to all Kenward residents. We have a very skilled and committed workforce with many staff members having unique skills, qualifications and interests’. This community approach allows all residents to benefit from the variety of expertise available within our staff team. 12 Steps - The Barn. We understand one size does not fit all. Referral partners and residents can be assured we offer varied solutions to get effective results. As part of our individualised recovery plan, we offer a safe place in 'The Barn' here at Kenward. Residents can find and gain an understanding of the 12 Step Programme, designed for people to help one another achieve and maintain abstinence from their addiction.
We are passionate about providing support to everyone affected by addiction, including the friends, family, and loved ones of those who are misusing substances. We are currently running weekly sessions on Thursday mornings by telephone. These sessions are completely free of charge, with no hidden fees, and will give individuals the support of our experts in the field of addiction. Everyone is welcome so if you feel you would benefit please contact a member of our team today to find out more. Get in touch by calling 07597 040091 or emailing [email protected].
The project is in a rural location with countryside attractions. We offer a lovey space for families who can enjoy a play area for children, picnic benches to relax and talk outside, plus we have a variety of animals on-site such as alpacas and goats.
We offer Day Treatment options as optional post-residential support.
Every effort will be made to assist the resident to move to a safe place.
Second-stage residential support is provided. This is funded via housing benefit/DSS/Supporting people.

Kenward House believes that people with a well-controlled mental health condition are as entitled to rehabilitation from a drug/alcohol problem as anyone else. We have a CPN on staff who can offer further support to those suffering from mental health problems. It does not believe it is the best agency to be helping people whose primary need is for rehabilitation from a diagnosed mental health condition.
Exclusion decisions are based upon individual circumstances. We do not accept those with previous sex offence or arson.
