Potential Dual Diagnosis clients are considered on an individual basis. The initial pre-assessment will consider the severity and stability of the co-occurring mental illness. In general, mental health disorders can dramatically improve when the drug/alcohol misuse is treated.
Severe mental or physical Illness or poor mobility. Those requiring detention under section are not admitted. No active suicidal tendencies. No disabled access. Conviction of arson.
We provide tailored medically assisted detox (as part of a placement) for controlled or street drugs and alcohol. We will support an individual who wishes to reduce or stop other prescription medication. All detoxes are assessed and prescribed on an individual basis by our consultant psychiatrist.

We believe it is important that prior to any admission all prospective residents come to visit the facility to meet the staff and have a confidential face to face discussion about expectations and needs. There is no charge or obligation when attending the pre-admission visit. We have a 'Referral and Assessment Form' which needs to be completed by prospective residents to help us assess their suitability. We can send you this form by email or it can be downloaded from the Admissions page on our website. It is preferable if the referral form is completed and returned before the initial pre-admission visit, however, if this is not possible we can complete the form with you on the day of your visit. Families are welcome and actively encouraged to attend the pre-admission referral and assessment visit so we can answer any questions and alleviate any concerns. During the pre-admission visit and discussion we will review your referral and assessment form and discuss possible detox requirements along with the implications of any currently prescribed medication. Alternatively if the initial on-site pre-admission visit is not possible a video conference call can be arranged with the potential resident after the referral and assessment form has been completed and returned. All admissions including any medically assisted detoxes are supervised and assessed by our consultant addiction psychiatrist.
Collection from local train or bus station if required.
Safe discharge encouraged and supported to home or other safe place.
